JWL T20 and Worsley Cup 2027 Draws Released

The Worsley and Junior Cup fixtures have now been released, along with the group stage ties for the JW Lees T20 Cup.

In the Worsley Cup, Burnley will be taking a trip over to Division 2 side Middleton for their first round tie, whilst our Seconds will be host to the reverse fixture in the opening round of the Junior Cup. The ties are due to be played on Saturday 1st May 2027.

The fixture will be a repeat of the opening round from the competitions last year, where Burnley were able to defeat Middleton in both matches to progress through to the next round of their respective competitions.

Adam Hodge and Ishaq Khan stood out with ball in the tie last year, taking 3 wickets apiece. Whilst newcomers Callum and Ryan both scored 40’s with the bat in the Worsley Cup. Whilst Aarav Neherkar scored 50 and Aayan took 3fer in the Junior Cup matchup.

The First Team will be looking for their first Cup win since they lifted the trophy in 2016, only reaching the Final once since then, being runners up in 2025. They will be wanting to go further than their second round exit in 2026. While the Second team will be looking for their third Cup win in five years, following triumphs in 2023 and 2025. A tough defeat in the Semi Final last year ended their hopes of lifting the trophy again.

In the JW Lees T20 competition, Burnley have been drawn in the Bitter Group along with East Lancs, Enfield, Clitheroe, Nelson and Colne.

Colne and Nelson will be repeat opponents as Burnley shared a group with the two teams last year, beating Nelson in the final group stage game to progress to the Quarter Finals. Enfield will also be familiar due to their run to the Semi Finals in 2026, when Finals Day was hosted at Haffner’s Turf Moor.

Burnley go into the competition having reached the Semi Finals stage last year, being knocked out by Haslingden. It is the second time in recent years they have fallen at this hurdle, having done the same in 2023. Burnley do have success in this format though, being winners three times, most recently in 2018.

Liam Bedford and Ocki Erasmus were star performers in the competition last year. Liam with 293 runs averaging 146, third highest runs scorer despite only playing 5 games. Whilst Ocki finished as top wicket taker with 16 victims.

The group games start on May 28th 2027, and continue through every Friday to June 25th. With Quarter finals set for July 2nd and Finals Day set for July 24th. Let’s see the team through all those games and lifting the trophy once more!
