Then the waiting began. Everything hung on the Darwen result.
Unfortunately it was Darwen’s day. They topped the table with 192 points, Burnley finished on 189. Congratulations to all involved at Darwen.

Ladies into the Cup FINAL!!
Our ladies team have had a long run to the weekends games going way back to the start of the summer.
The LCF Cup quarter final game took place in July at Ramsbottom where the ladies won by one run on the last ball of the T20 game. Ramsbottom put up a good fight and and made it a very tight game.
SEMI FINAL saw the ladies head to Sefton Park in August. Weather wasn’t great that morning but the mood was high. They came second in this cup last year and are fighting to go one better in 2023.
After batting first and putting on a score of 118, they were out to defend in the field. They managed to limit Sefton Park to 114, and this put the ladies into the final.
THE FINAL - takes place this Sunday 3rd September at Northern CC, vs Blackpool CC
LET JUNIOR Cup Winners!!!
Its been a long road to the final with the weather causing delays, but today was made for a cup final!!
Burnley 2nd’s took on Todmorden at the Centre Vale ground. We were batting first and after losing Aiden Tate (1) to a run out. Matthew Tomlinson and Joe Marshall both put on 19 each. When Tomlinson was dismissed, Gareth Halley (17) partnered with Marshall and took the score to 65. After this we lost 4 quick wickets with Aqib Mahmood taking 4/12 until Steve Brunt rescued the innings by scoring 39 off 46. Burnley were all out for 144.
Gareth Halley started the bowling strong sending the opening batters Dunkley (1) and Abbas (11) along with Atherton (5) back to the dressing room early leaving Todmorden 22/3.
Tom Stansfield (21) partnered captain Ben Sutcliffe (20) and put on a strong partnership, before being despatched by Ishaq Khan. Then we had the “Battle of the Ben Sutcliffe”…… The Todmorden captain was bowled by “Bar” his namesake and then tod were in trouble, they had made 76 but lost their top batting order. Ishaq took another 3 wickets giving him figures of 6 overs, 4 maidens, 4 wickets for 10 runs. Then ‘Brunty’ stepped up and took 2/1 and polished off the tail end to give Burnley the win and bring home the silverware.

Chairman of the JW Lees Lancashire Cricket league stepped up to present the trophy and in his speach mentioned several players that had a good game today but Man of the Match was given to 15 year old Ishaq Khan.
Captain Matt ‘Chocky’ Thornton lead the team to the final and bagged the trophy. All the players picked up their medals, the trophy and now the party can get started.

We are very pleased to confirm that Ockert Erasmus has agreed to remain as club professional for the 2024 & 2025 seasons.
“Ocki” is currently in his third full Lancashire League season with the club, having signed ahead of the COVID affected 2020 season, and is currently the league’s leading wicket taker with 33 so far this term.

Let there be Light
Throughout the year Burnley Cricket Club play’s host to Cricket and Football fans alike. With two inside bars and an outside bar. A lot of these fans enjoy using our balcony to get a good vantage point.
In the past the top bar has been dark because of boards blocking the light, and the temperature hot or cold depending on the outside weather and the state of the old window frames. With no small windows to open during hot weather the top bar could get extremely hot.
During this winter / spring time we are having some much needed renovations done and phase 1 of the project is now complete. New double glazed windows on the top bar fitted by Perfectly Glazed and new cladding to help heat retention, plus new double doors and opening windows to assist with ventilation in warmer weather (I know we don’t get much but here’s hoping)

Funding towards all the work being done has been has been provided by ‘The Lancashire Environmental Fund’, and we at Burnley Cricket Club are very thankful for this. It will benefit our local customers, Cricket fans from all over the league and football fans from near and far a like.
The fund is a partnership between SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK Limited, Lancashire County Council, The Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and Community Futures.
The next phase of the project will see improvements to the main entrance of the building. This is the first thing new customers see and a much needed area for renovation. This work will be beginning shortly.
