Burnley Cricket Club calls on fans to “fill Turf Moor” for the 99th J.W. Lees Worsley Cup Final
Burnley Cricket Club is just one week away from hosting the 99th J.W. Lees Worsley Cup Final and is inviting the whole town to Turf Moor on Sunday 10 August to roar the town on against Ramsbottom Cricket Club. The current Lancashire League champions host the showpiece of the Lancashire League season which will start at 12.30 p.m. Spectators are urged to arrive early to secure their favourite spot and soak up everything on offer.
“This is the biggest match in the cup season of our local game and we want every Burnley cricket fan to be part of it,” said Bharat Tripathi, former-club captain, multiple-times winner of the competition and one of the Worsley Cup Final organisers. “It’s not just about cricket – it’s going to be a full day and evening of entertainment with food, live music and a party atmosphere for all ages.”
What’s happening on the day
A historic Lancashire League cup final. Burnley CC hosts Ramsbottom CC at Turf Moor in the 99th edition of the J.W. Lees Worsley Cup Final. The final is an all-ticket event with adult entry priced at £5 and concessions (under 16s and over 65s) at £2.50; e‑tickets can be bought in advance and scanned at the gate for faster entry. Cash and card payment also available on the day.
Reserve date and membership. If weather prevents play on 10 August, the reserve date is Saturday 16 August and tickets from the original date will be honoured. As this is a cup match, members of Burnley and Ramsbottom still need to purchase tickets.
How to get there. Spectators can enter via the main gate on Belvedere Road or through the Burnley Football Club car park off Harry Potts Way; both entrances will scan e‑tickets, collect paper tickets and take cash or card payments. Car parking inside the cricket ground is reserved for players and officials, but additional parking available at Burnley FC’s car park on Harry Potts Way.
Facilities on site. There will be a pavilion bar serving alcoholic and non‑alcoholic hot and cold drinks, a dedicated J.W. Lees bar, and external can bars for quick service around the ground. The club’s tea room will offer cold sandwiches, cakes and traditional tea‑room treats.
Street food village. To complement the tea room, a pop‑up street food village will operate throughout the day with popular local vendors on site from 11.30am:
Serrano’s Pizza – authentic wood‑fired pizzas cooked fresh on site.
Ground Up – smash burgers and gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches.
La Sicilia – artisan ice cream and desserts.
The food village will sit alongside the bars and the tea room to make sure everyone stays well fed from lunch through to the evening.
Family‑friendly and accessible. Visitors can bring pre‑prepared food and soft drinks but may not bring their own BBQs or alcohol due to licensing regulations. A stairlift to the first-floow James Anderson Suite and accessible ground‑level toilet facilities will be available for spectators with limited mobility needs.
Post‑match entertainment. When the trophy is lifted, the party continues indoors. Electric Neon, a high‑energy 80s and 90s tribute duo known locally for their quality live shows, will perform in the James Anderson Suite and everyone is encouraged to stay and enjoy the evening.
A full ground plan showing the location of entrances, bars, portable toilets and the street food village will be published on the club’s website and social media ahead of the day. Signage on the day will help fans find their way around and stewards will be on hand to answer questions.
How to buy tickets
Supporters are strongly encouraged to buy e‑tickets in advance from burnleycricketclub.com/final. E‑tickets generate a QR code that will be scanned at the gate and help the club cover up‑front hosting costs. Cash and card payments will be accepted on the gate, but with an expected capacity crowd fans are advised to arrive early. Tickets are non‑refundable but remain valid for the reserve date if the match is postponed.
