Ockert Erasmus signs on again for 2026 & 2027 — and takes over as our T20 Captain

We’re delighted to confirm that Ockert Erasmus has signed a contract extension as Burnley Cricket Club Professional for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

Even better… Ocki will also take over as our T20 Captain, adding another important role to what’s already been a huge impact on and off the pitch since he first arrived at Turf Moor.

He needs no introduction but it’s worth saying plainly: keeping him in Burnley colours gives us a massive boost as we build towards the new season and some welcome continuity at a time where we’ve had a small turnover of senior players.

His recent seasons underline exactly why we’re so pleased:

  • Key contributions to our recent title wins, including helping us to a third Lancashire League title in four seasons in 2023

  • Strong figures in recent years with both bat and ball, including reaching 600 Lancashire League wickets

  • Consistent all-round excellence across multiple seasons and stepping up in key moments

Just as importantly, it’s not only what he does on a Saturday and Sunday but his Junior coaching is invaluable. On top of that, his presence in the dressing room sets the standards of intensity, professionalism and calmness under pressure the best sides have.

Plus, Ocki and his family have become firmly part of the fabric at the club — and we’re proud that Burnley CC feels like home for them.

Captaincy updates: 1st XI, T20 & 2nd XI

Alongside Ocki’s extension and T20 captaincy, we’re also pleased to confirm:

  • Chris Burton will continue as 1st XI Captain

  • Ockert Erasmus will take over T20 captaincy from the departing Tom Lawson

  • Josh Holding has been named the new 2nd XI Captain

Continuity at 1st XI level, and a popular appointment in the 2nd XI — exactly the sort of stability and energy you want as we gear up for another big season.
