Jamie’s Wing Walk: raising funds for Burnley Cricket Club’s Junior Section

700ft in the air. 110 miles per hour. One brave (slightly nervous) bar steward…

On Sunday 23rd August, our very own Jamie Campbell is doing a Wing Walk - standing on the wings of a plane - to raise £2,000 for the Junior Section at Burnley Cricket Club.

It’s the kind of challenge that makes you laugh… until you picture it properly. Then you realise it’s equal parts brilliant and utterly terrifying.

But beneath the light-hearted headline is a genuinely important reason Jamie is doing it.

Why Jamie’s doing this

Running a junior cricket section isn’t just a case of turning up with a bag of balls and a good attitude. To give youngsters in Burnley the chance to play, learn, and be part of a club, we have to fund the essentials — every single season.

Jamie was shocked when he learned how much it costs to run the junior section… and when he heard that the main sponsor had fallen through, he wanted to do something to help keep things moving.

This fundraiser is about making sure junior cricket at Burnley CC stays accessible, welcoming, and properly supported - for every child who wants to give it a go.

Where the money goes

The junior section costs thousands of pounds each year to run. Your donation helps cover things like:

  • New equipment (bats, balls, helmets, pads, stumps)

  • Coaching costs and coaching qualifications

  • Match fees and league costs

  • Insurance and safeguarding requirements

  • Ground maintenance and the facilities juniors rely on

  • And all the other behind-the-scenes basics that make cricket possible

Every contribution - big or small - helps keep junior cricket alive in our town.
