Under 17s v Church 26th April 2010
Report by Chris Whitehead
Burnley CC U17's started the new season with an emphatic win over Church. Playing at home and electing to bat after winning the toss, Burnley posted an impressive tally of 118 for the loss of just one wicket in 16 overs. Gus Whitehead was the first wicket to fall with a quick fire 38 including two lusty blows over mid wicket. Richard Chew then joined Ollie Spark and hit an impressive 20 in 10 balls but it was Spark who stole the show hitting a 4 off the last ball and ending up with 51 not out.
In reply, Church struggled to 48 for 6, the pick of the bowlers being 14 year old Brandon Watson with 3 wickets for 3 runs, followed closely by Paul Bradshaw with 2 wickets for 2 runs. To round off a great all round performance, skipper Josh Whitehead took a superb diving catch at gully. Cricket history may have been made as Church's scorer completed the scorebook in the 2nd innings wearing ski gloves!
