Junior and Senior Presentation Evening 2014
Burnley Cricket Club held its annual presentation evening in a packed club house with Burnley’s new professional, Chris Holt, handing out the awards. The evening celebrated the many successes of several Junior teams which included several league and cup successes and a number of county and district selections. The Senior teams also celebrated a successful season, including a Worsley Cup win and finishing third in the Lancashire League. In addition, the evening saw Qasim Ali, receiving deserved recognition for finishing as the top amateur run scorer in the Lancashire League. The Club also marked the retirement of Andy Lamb from senior cricket who was thanked for his immense contribution to life at Burnley CC, both on and off the field.
Michael Brown, Club Chairman, extended his thanks to all those involved in the organisation and running of the Club: members, players, coaches, groundsman, supporters, tea ladies, bar staff, Committee members and volunteers … the list is endless. The continued support and commitment of so many individuals is invaluable to the Club and is greatly appreciated.

FAREWELL MR. LAMB!
After thirty five years, yes thirty five years of playing cricket (longer than most of us have been alive), Andy Lamb has announced his retirement. His contribution to life at Burnley Cricket Club, both on and off the field, has been immense and it goes without saying that he will be a hard act to follow. Captain, Junior Chairman, player, manager, committee member, assistant groundsman, washer up, counsellor, inspirational (?!!) speech writer, the list goes on. He will be sorely missed and he leaves a massive void at the Club. We wish him all the best in his retirement and hope very much that he retires his shorts as well!
CONGRATULATIONS - GOODBYE 2013!
Well what a season it’s been: Worsley Cup Winners, the first XI finishing third in the Lancashire League, the 2nd XI finishing fourth in the League and Telegraph Cup Finalists, Under 17s winning their league, Under 15s and Under 13s B coming runners up in their respective leagues, a thriving Junior section and several Junior players selected for Lancashire teams are just a few of the highlights.
A massive ‘well done’ to Qasim Ali for his total of 791 runs for the season, top amateur run scorer in the League. Qas makes a huge contribution to life at Burnley CC both on and off the field and thoroughly deserves every accolade heading his way.
A special congratulations to Adnan Rasool, Burnley’s professional for the season on his season’s haul of 76 wickets, finishing second in the League averages - thank you Adnan for your contribution this year and we wish you all the best in the future.
More thanks –thank you to all the players, both young and not so young: what a truly memorable and unforgettable season; a huge thank you to all our members and supporters for their continued support this year - it really is appreciated; to our parents, staff, committee members: we thank you and look forward to seeing you again next year.
But finally a HUGE, HUGE THANK YOU to all our volunteers who make this Club what it is. You all work countless hours, often for very little reward or thanks, but we salute you! You know who you are, and you are quite simply THE BEST!
See you in 2014!

Burnley Football Club
The Cricket Club enjoys a special relationship with Burnley Football Club. In close proximity, the clubs work co-operatively to provide a high standard of sport for the people of Burnley. Interestingly Burnley Cricket Club were in existence before the Clarets! It was the Cricket Club who invited the football club to join them at the Turf Moor Ground. The close relationship which has built up over the years was illustrated at the end of the 2006 Cricket season when Burnley Cricket Club were triumphant in the Lancashire League. The Football Club invited the team to a reception in the Chairman’s lounge and then carried out a lap of honour with the League Trophy. The clubs works closely together. Many of the spectators enjoy a dual role, supporting the Clarets in the winter and the Cricket Club in the summer. In the inevitable overlap of the seasons, they can enjoy a game of football, walk around the corner and enjoy the second innings of a game of cricket!
